Former President Donald Trump has unleashed a fiery critique of Fox News in a recent post on Truth Social, expressing frustration over the network’s coverage of Kamala Harris’s campaign rallies and airing ads created by anti-Trump groups. Trump’s comments, shared on July 29, 2024, reveal his discontent with what he sees as Fox News’s shift away from supporting his political efforts.
In his post, Trump questioned Fox News’s decision to broadcast Harris’s rallies, labeling them as “Crazy Kamala Harris Rallies,” and took aim at the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump organization. “Why do they allow the perverts at the failed and disgraced Lincoln Project to advertise on FoxNews?” Trump fumed. He specifically targeted George Conway, a co-founder of the Lincoln Project and the husband of Trump’s former campaign manager Kellyanne Conway, suggesting that Conway’s participation in these ads reflected personal grievances.
The Lincoln Project, established in 2019 by former Republican operatives including George Conway, has evolved into a progressive PAC that opposes Trump. Despite its shift in political alignment, the group has faced its share of controversy, particularly concerning sexual harassment allegations against one of its founders, John Weaver, who is no longer involved with the organization.
Although Conway distanced himself from the Lincoln Project in August 2020, he remains active in political commentary. He currently heads the Anti-Psychopath PAC, which focuses on highlighting perceived mental instability in Trump. The PAC recently aired an ad on Fox News, ESPN, and the Golf Channel, featuring Conway’s assertion that Trump “has never been right in the head.”
Trump’s frustration with Fox News has been a recurring theme in the 2024 election cycle. Earlier this month, he criticized the network for what he described as “PUTTING ON THE ENEMY,” referencing their coverage of his political adversaries. His son, Donald Trump Jr., also accused the network of “blacklisting” him, though Fox News countered by noting his scheduled appearances on the channel.
This ongoing tension between Trump and Fox News reflects broader shifts in the media landscape and the evolving dynamics within the Republican Party. As Trump continues to wield significant influence in GOP politics, his public criticisms of media outlets and political adversaries underscore the fierce competition for control over the party’s narrative.
As the 2024 presidential election nears, the interplay between Trump, media outlets, and political action committees is expected to intensify, shaping the strategies and outcomes of the election. Trump’s ability to command media attention and mobilize his base remains a crucial factor in the current political climate, highlighting the high stakes and contentious nature of the upcoming election.
