The revelation stemmed from a court transcript where Davidson’s conviction regarding Trump’s involvement in orchestrating the payments became apparent following the dismissal of objections from Trump’s legal team.

Davidson affirmed that he had long maintained the belief that the funds for Daniels’ payoff would come directly from Trump or one of his corporate entities, countering speculations that former attorney Michael Cohen was the source.

Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, faces an unprecedented criminal trial as the first former U.S. president in such a position. He confronts 34 charges linked to falsifying business records, maintaining his plea of not guilty and attributing the legal actions against him to political motives.

The crux of the prosecution’s argument centers on establishing that before the 2016 presidential election, Trump either made direct payments to Daniels or discussed payments to secure her silence about an alleged affair, allegations Trump vehemently denies.

Davidson’s testimony gained significance when he affirmed that he never believed Cohen would be the ultimate source of the funds, consistently pointing to Trump or a Trump-related entity as the likely financier.

Legal analyst Lisa Rubin underscored the impact of Davidson’s statement, labeling it a “clean, key admission” directly implicating Trump in the financial aspects of the Daniels case. Even after Cohen expressed willingness to cover expenses personally, Davidson remained firm in his belief that Trump or his affiliates would bear the financial responsibility.

Davidson’s frustration with the situation was evident in text messages with National Enquirer editor Dylan Howard. He expressed disbelief at Cohen’s handling, foreseeing the turmoil upon Daniels’ public revelations.

“They had this deal on a silver platter,” Davidson remarked, highlighting the missed opportunity for a discreet resolution.

In a final courtroom statement, Davidson referenced a Trump impersonator’s supposed wealth, suggesting doubts about Trump’s actual financial standing compared to his claims.

The depth of Davidson’s testimony adds a compelling layer to the ongoing legal scrutiny, providing insight into the financial intricacies surrounding the Stormy Daniels case and Trump’s alleged involvement.
