In a fervent attack on judges overseeing his multiple trials, former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance condemns Donald Trump’s intensified efforts to undermine the judicial system, labeling him as a “wounded animal” in a corner.
During his recent campaign in Iowa and online tirades, Trump, facing setbacks on various fronts, displayed a heightened level of desperation, as observed by Vance. On his Truth Social platform, Trump alleged that Republican judges are often afraid to act justly, making bad and unfair decisions to prove their impartiality, while judges appointed by Democrats supposedly follow the party line without giving the opposition a chance.
Vance, utilizing her Civil Discourse Substack platform, characterized Trump’s actions as those of a cornered and wounded animal, expressing concern over the mounting evidence suggesting a potential second Trump administration could be darker, more dangerous, and closer to fascism and authoritarianism than the first.
The focus of Trump’s ire extended to Judge Lewis Kaplan, overseeing the second E. Jean Carroll defamation trial. Vance highlighted Trump’s tendency to incite violence against judges, particularly evident in his characterization of Judge Kaplan as the “terrible, biased, irrationally angry Clinton-appointed Judge in the Bergdorf’s Hoax.”
Vance underscored the gravity of Trump’s comments, especially in light of a recent bomb threat called into the home of Judge Engoron, handling a fraud case. Despite the risks and targeting of perceived enemies, Vance lamented the lack of condemnation from the Republican Party.
Addressing Trump’s attack on Judge Kaplan, Vance urged vigilance against complacency, emphasizing the risk of allowing a potential dictator to rise to power. She stressed the importance of resisting resignation and viewing Trump’s victory as not inevitable, urging a commitment to ensuring that he does not succeed in his ambitions.
