Peaceful evening turned violent at Koeneman Park in Jennings, Missouri, when a 23-year-old woman allegedly opened fire on two bystanders trying to break up a fight — a moment now captured on Facebook Live and sparking widespread outrage.
St. Louis County police say Imani R. Easley, of University City, is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly shooting two women who stepped in to intervene during a heated altercation on Saturday, May 30, around 6:05 p.m.
Officers responded to the 2600 block of Shannon Avenue, near the park’s edge, where they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. One had been hit in the arm, while the other was shot in the chest and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.
According to investigators, Easley retrieved a Glock pistol and fired multiple rounds after the two women attempted to de-escalate the fight. The terrifying incident unfolded in full view of park visitors — and was streamed live on Facebook, helping authorities quickly identify and arrest the suspect.
Police say Easley admitted to the shooting during questioning. She has now been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. She remains in custody on a $500,000 cash-only bond. A bond reduction hearing is set for June 9, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 2.
The motive behind the initial altercation remains unclear, and investigators are still working to determine whether the victims had any prior connection to Easley. Authorities are asking anyone with more information or video evidence to contact the St. Louis County Police Department.
