A new documentary titled Chris Brown: A History of Violence, set to premiere on Sunday, October 27, at 9 p.m. ET on Investigation Discovery (ID), has unveiled disturbing allegations against the R&B singer. Multiple women have come forward to share their experiences, including an anonymous woman who claims that Chris Brown raped her in 2020.
The woman, referred to as Jane Doe, details her harrowing account in the documentary. She expresses her fear and the severe repercussions she faced after coming forward. “Even coming forward as a Jane Doe, some people still found out who I was,” she shares. “I received death threats after the incident. Coming forward with this now, I just hope I can shed light on what really happened.”
Background of the Incident
Doe states that she had recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a dance career when she traveled to Miami in December 2020. On December 30, she claims to have received a call inviting her to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ yacht. Upon arrival, she was surprised to find Chris Brown there, which she initially took as a sign of good fortune.
“While we were talking, he handed me a drink. I don’t remember if I saw him pour it, but I just drank it,” she recounts. As the evening progressed, she began to feel fatigued and disoriented. “Next thing I know, he was on top of me, and I couldn’t move. I said ‘No,’ but he just continued,” she alleges, claiming he raped her.
Legal Proceedings and Challenges
In the documentary, Brown’s legal team categorically denies these allegations. A representative for Brown has not commented on this matter. Meanwhile, an attorney for Combs, who is currently facing serious legal issues of his own, also declined to comment.
After the alleged assault, Doe states that she tried to get clarity by continuing to communicate with Brown. It wasn’t until she began therapy that she recognized the incident as sexual assault. “I know it for a fact. Instead of telling myself that it wasn’t. It was. It was rape,” she emphasizes.
Doe initially pursued legal action, but her case was dismissed by a judge in 2022 due to a “lack of prosecution.” Reports suggest that police found text messages between her and Brown that complicated her case. However, one of her lawyers, Ariel Mitchell, has taken up her representation again, stating, “I adore my client and I believe what happened to her is 100% true.”
Additional Allegations Against Brown
The documentary also features another woman, Liziane Gutierrez, who describes an encounter with Chris Brown in 2016. Gutierrez recounts being punched in the face by Brown after attempting to take a picture of him. “I’m not saying it was right what I did with my phone. I know that. But that doesn’t give you the right to punch me in the face,” she asserts. Gutierrez previously sued Brown for this incident, and the case was settled privately.
A Pattern of Legal Troubles
Chris Brown’s history of legal issues spans over a decade, with multiple allegations of violence and assault. Most notably, he faced serious charges after an incident involving his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, in 2009, for which he was convicted of felony assault. Following that incident, he was sentenced to probation, community service, and domestic violence counseling.
In 2017, another ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, obtained a restraining order against Brown, citing threats and physical abuse.
