In a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE, rapper 50 Cent, also known as Curtis Jackson, discussed his long-standing criticism of Sean “Diddy” Combs regarding alleged abusive behavior. This conversation comes in the wake of Combs facing serious legal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, following his arrest at a Manhattan hotel on September 17, 2024. Combs has pleaded not guilty to these allegations.

50 Cent explained that his vocal stance over the years might seem extreme but insists he is merely expressing opinions he has held for a decade. “Look, it seems like I’m doing some extremely outrageous things, but I haven’t. It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for 10 years,” he stated. He clarified that while the allegations against Combs have now gained significant media attention, he has always avoided engaging in the drama surrounding Combs, which he describes as “not my style.”

A Long-Standing Feud

The tension between 50 Cent and Diddy dates back to 2006, sparked by the diss track “The Bomb.” In this song, 50 Cent suggested that Diddy might have been involved in the murder of the Notorious B.I.G., an accusation Diddy has consistently denied. Over the years, their rivalry has played out publicly, with both artists representing competing vodka brands and exchanging jabs on social media.

In light of Diddy’s recent legal troubles, 50 Cent announced plans to produce a documentary focusing on the allegations against the Bad Boy Records founder. This project aims to delve deeper into the complex narratives surrounding hip-hop culture and the impact of individual actions within it.

“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” 50 Cent and director Alexandria Stapleton said in a joint statement. They emphasized the importance of giving a voice to those who are often unheard and promised to provide authentic perspectives on the issues at hand.

Combs’ Response

A representative for Diddy declined to comment on 50 Cent’s remarks when contacted by PEOPLE. However, the fallout from Combs’ arrest has heightened interest in the dynamics between these two influential figures in hip-hop.

As 50 Cent prepares for his “In Da Club” Las Vegas residency, his focus on Diddy’s alleged misconduct has drawn renewed attention to their decade-long feud and the broader implications for the hip-hop community.
