In a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club” radio show, rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent revealed that he declined a $3 million offer to perform at former President Donald Trump’s rally at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden. The event, held on Sunday, attracted considerable controversy, with 50 Cent shedding light on his reasons for rejecting the invitation.
When host DJ Envy asked about the offer, 50 confirmed, “I got a call, but they wanted me [for] Sunday,” hinting at the urgency and high-profile nature of the request. Reportedly, Trump’s team requested he perform his hit song “Many Men,” which was previously suggested for a performance at the Republican National Convention this past summer. While the artist did not elaborate on the specifics, he made it clear that he declined both opportunities.
“I didn’t even go far… I didn’t talk to them about that kinda stuff,” he stated, expressing his aversion to engaging with political endorsements. Laughing, he added, “I do not like no part about [politics].”
His stance reflects his concern about the divisive nature of political affiliations. “When you do get involved, no matter how you feel, someone passionately disagrees with you. That’s the formula for the confusion,” he noted, referencing how similar controversies affected fellow artist Kanye West, who has largely performed overseas recently following polarizing comments in the U.S.
This rally wasn’t short on divisive comments either, with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe sparking outrage by making a derogatory remark about Puerto Rico. He referred to the island as “a floating island of garbage,” igniting responses from prominent figures like Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Ricky Martin, who rallied in support of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris following the incident.
