During a recent rally in Coralville, Iowa, former President Donald Trump departed from his customary critique of President Joe Biden to focus on his own health, asserting not only fitness but the potential to surpass his predecessors, including former President Barack Obama.

Trump, known for occasional personal anecdotes, shared details of a recent physical examination and cognitive test, injecting humor and bravado into his health claims. As reported by HuffPost on Thursday, December 14, 2023, Trump proudly announced passing his recent physical exam “with flying colors” and acing a cognitive test.

Highlighting Rep. Ronny Jackson, a Texas Republican and former White House physician who served under both Trump and Obama, Trump teased the audience about a direct question he posed to Jackson regarding who was healthier between him and Obama.

“He was my doctor. He was Obama’s doctor, too, by the way,” Trump revealed, playfully keeping the actual answer undisclosed. According to Trump, Jackson’s response was unequivocal, with the former president declaring, “I won’t tell you the answer, but you know the answer, OK? It was me.”

Sharing a claim attributed to Jackson, Trump stated, “He said, ‘You’re the healthiest guy.’ He said, ‘If he didn’t eat junk food, he’d live to 200 years old.’ That’s my kind of a doctor,” eliciting laughter from the crowd.

While delivered with Trump’s signature showmanship, the anecdote has a basis in reality. In 2018, as White House physician, Jackson praised Trump’s health during a press briefing, noting his “incredibly good genes” and suggesting he could theoretically live to be 200 with a healthier diet.

Frequently referencing his health during his political career, Trump often emphasizes his vigor and stamina, particularly in comparison to opponents. Last month, he released a letter from his doctor affirming his “excellent” health and cognitive performance.

Despite leaving office, Trump maintains influence within the Republican Party and is discussed as a potential 2024 presidential candidate. His ability to blend personal anecdotes, humor, and health proclamations continues to captivate supporters, adding a distinct flavor to his public appearances and keeping the narrative around his persona vibrant and engaging.
