According to a report by Raw Story on December 22, 2023, detailed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Johnson has come forward in defense of the House’s authority to impose fines on individuals who defied mask mandates during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This development comes as Greene pursues legal avenues to challenge the fines imposed on her.

As highlighted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, when Greene, along with two other Republicans, opted to challenge the constitutionality of the fines at the Supreme Court, Johnson and his counterparts, while expressing their displeasure with Pelosi’s policy, chose to stand firm in support of the imposed fines.
Pelosi had implemented an escalating fine system for mask infractions during House sessions to curb the spread of COVID-19.
