Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is under renewed scrutiny amid allegations of making inaccurate statements about the pay rates of special prosecutors involved in the case against former President Donald Trump.

Documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation expose inconsistencies in Willis’ public statements, further complicating the ongoing legal proceedings.

During her first public comments since co-defendant Michael Roman filed a motion implying a romantic relationship between Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade, Willis claimed that all special prosecutors, including Wade, were compensated at the same hourly rate.

However, as reported by the Daily Caller on January 17, 2024, billing statements indicate a significant pay disparity within the legal team.

According to the Daily Caller’s investigation, as of May 2023, Georgia’s top racketeering expert, John Floyd, received $200 per hour, while Wade, reportedly lacking experience in prosecuting RICO cases, earned $250 per hour, contradicting Willis’ assertion of uniform compensation.

Roman’s motion not only suggests a romantic involvement but also implies financial benefits for Willis through a “lucrative” contract awarded to Wade.

Documents further reveal that Wade filed for divorce from his wife on the same day his contract with Willis began, prompting questions about financial transparency.

The payment disparity extends beyond hourly rates, with Wade’s firm reportedly receiving nearly $654,000 from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office since the start of 2022, while Floyd’s firm received just over $90,000 during the same period.

In light of these revelations, Willis faces heightened scrutiny for potential preferential treatment toward Wade.

Billing statements reviewed by the Daily Caller reveal substantial differences in monthly earnings, with Wade consistently earning more than Floyd and other special counsel Anna Cross.

Between November 2022 and January 2023, Wade earned $68,500, while Floyd earned $30,200 during the same period, raising questions about the structure of Wade’s contracts and potential additional benefits.

Roman’s motion, emphasizing Wade’s lack of experience in prosecuting felony RICO cases, challenges the validity of the entire legal arrangement.

Wade’s contract, as outlined in the motion, initially capped his hours at 600 for a six-month period, allowing a maximum earning of $150,000. However, his latest contract from June 12, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2023, enables him to work up to 120 hours per month, capping his earnings at $210,000.

As the controversy unfolds, Willis faces mounting pressure to address the alleged discrepancies and provide transparency regarding financial arrangements with special prosecutors. The revelations add a new layer of complexity to the courtroom drama surrounding Trump’s case, casting doubt on the legal proceedings and raising concerns about the prosecution’s integrity.
