In the midst of a scandal involving special prosecutor Nathan Wade, threatening the integrity of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ RICO investigation into former President Donald Trump and associates, legal expert Norman Eisen, renowned for his role as Democrats’ top impeachment counsel against Trump in 2019, has strongly advocated for decisive action.

As reported by Raw Story, recent revelations from bank records, disclosed by Reuters, indicate that Wade, collaborating with Willis on the investigation, paid for two flights for both of them in 2022 and 2023. The source of concern stems from Wade’s ongoing divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Jocelyn, raising questions about a potentially inappropriate relationship between the two prosecutors.

Eisen emphasized the imperative need for Willis to dismiss Wade from her team to safeguard the investigation’s integrity. Despite Willis being the elected leader of the case, Eisen underscored that the overwhelming evidence justifying the prosecution of Trump and his associates shouldn’t be overshadowed by potential impropriety within the investigative team.

“The evidence is strong. The case is powerful. It’s very likely to lead to conviction. And we mustn’t lose time on the calendar given the paramount public interest in bringing that strong case to a speedy conclusion,” Eisen asserted.

While acknowledging there might not be a legal necessity to remove Wade and that a personal relationship wouldn’t automatically constitute a conflict of interest, Eisen stressed the importance of discretion. He criticized Willis’s acceptance of airline tickets, deeming it “not wise” given the gravity of the situation.

In response to the allegations, Fani Willis claimed that Jocelyn Wade’s attempt to depose her was harassment designed to undermine the Trump investigation. However, Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee has intervened, directing Willis to address the allegations by filing a response before the February 2 deadline. A hearing is scheduled for February 15 to further probe the matter.

Nathan Wade, a practitioner in Atlanta, specializing in private practice, has received payments exceeding $650,000 from Willis’ office for his contributions to the Trump case. The unfolding scandal puts the RICO investigation under increased scrutiny, prompting calls for swift and transparent action from the district attorney.
