Former Hawaii Representative Tulsi Gabbard has issued a stark warning to voters, urging them to stay vigilant against manipulative tactics ahead of the 2024 election. In a recent interview, Gabbard cautioned against falling for fearmongering strategies employed by candidates to divert attention from critical issues.
During the discussion, Gabbard pointed out a recent advertisement released by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Campaign for Democracy PAC. The ad depicted two women being arrested in Alabama while attempting to cross the border for an abortion. Gabbard argued that such ads were not meant to inform voters about real situations but rather to distract them from essential election issues.
“The very real issues that most voters are concerned about, such as the economy, the border, education, and crime in our streets, are being overshadowed by fearmongering tools meant to divide us,” Gabbard expressed her concern.
Gabbard further predicted that the Democratic Party would attempt to politicize abortion access to divert attention from President Joe Biden’s record, which she believes the party is “terrified” of.
With Biden and former President Donald Trump expected to be the nominees for the 2024 presidential election, Gabbard stressed the importance of informing voters about all the issues at stake.
“We can’t allow ourselves to fall for this manipulation in our election,” Gabbard said.
Having previously run for president as a Democrat in 2020 but now an independent, Gabbard took a swipe at those who have praised Biden as the greatest president ever, finding such claims “comical at this point.”
Abortion access, border security, and inflation are anticipated to be major factors motivating voters leading up to the 2024 presidential election.
A recent poll indicated that while recipients believe Biden would handle abortion access better than Trump, the former president is favored for his handling of the economy, border security, and mental fitness.
Speculations have arisen that Gabbard may be on Trump’s shortlist of potential vice president candidates, alongside Reps. Byron Donalds and Elise Stefanik, as well as Governors Kristi Noem and Ron DeSantis.
Gabbard revealed earlier this month that she turned down an offer to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s vice presidential running mate as an independent candidate.
Gabbard assured that her loyalty would always lie with the United States rather than a particular political party if she were to become Trump’s vice president.
She also stated that she does not question Trump’s loyalty to the country, pointing to his persistence in running for president despite ongoing legal challenges.
Gabbard’s call to focus on real issues and avoid falling into the traps of fearmongering serves as a reminder to prioritize what truly matters in the upcoming election.
