Heavenly Faith Garfield, a 21-year-old woman from Utah, has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing her friend in what authorities describe as an “uncompleted suicide pact.”
The distressing incident, reported by Daily Mail Online on Thursday, May 2, 2024, unfolded on Tuesday, leaving the community shocked and saddened.
Garfield’s father alerted authorities after the shooting occurred at 10:45 am, revealing that Garfield and her 21-year-old friend had made a suicide pact weeks prior, intending for one to take the other’s life and then their own.
However, the pact did not proceed as planned, leading to a tragic outcome when Garfield allegedly shot her friend instead of herself.
An acquaintance of the pair informed investigators about the intended suicide pact, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the event.

Garfield confessed in a text message to the acquaintance that she had intended to commit suicide but became too scared to follow through, as detailed in an affidavit obtained by KUTV.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, tragically succumbed to a gunshot wound, leading to Garfield’s arrest and subsequent charges of murder and felony discharge of a firearm.
Garfield is currently held without bail following her arrest on May 1st, with authorities expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the factors contributing to this devastating outcome.
The community has expressed deep sorrow and support for those affected by the tragic incident, highlighting the need for understanding and compassion in addressing mental health challenges and suicide prevention.
