Paul Young, the beloved singer known for hits like “Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home),” has found love again after experiencing the heartache of losing his first wife, Stacey, to brain cancer. The 68-year-old recently tied the knot with his fiancée, Lorna, marking a new chapter in his life six years after Stacey’s passing.
A Heartbreaking Journey
Stacey Young was diagnosed with brain cancer and bravely battled the illness for two years before passing away in January 2018 at the age of 52. Stacey and Paul met in 1983 when she appeared in his music video for “Come Back And Stay.” They married in 1987 and had three children together: Levi, Layla, and Grady. Despite splitting in 2006, they reunited in 2013, with Paul also becoming a stepfather to Stacey’s fourth child, Jude.

Paul opened up about the emotional turmoil he faced during Stacey’s illness, sharing how focusing on his work helped him cope. “Emotionally you’re all over the place,” he told the Daily Mail. “But I decided, ‘I have to go out on the road, I’ve got to earn money because I don’t know what I’m going to have to pay for, I don’t know what’s ahead of me.'”
New Love and Happiness
In October last year, Paul announced his engagement to Lorna, and they recently celebrated their wedding. On Instagram, he joyfully shared, “Meet the new Mrs. Young! Today I married the most wonderful girl. Thank you, Lorna, this is one of the happiest days of my life.” The heartfelt post featured a picture of Lorna in a white dress and Paul in a blue suit, radiating happiness and love.
Reflections on Career and Life
Paul’s career has been marked by success and enduring popularity. He reflected on a long-standing rumor about his involvement in the iconic Band Aid hit “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” released in 1984. Many believed that the opening line, sung by Paul, was originally intended for David Bowie. However, after speaking with Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, the song’s writers, Paul learned that he was always the intended vocalist for that part.

Despite many of his contemporaries giving up alcohol, Paul admitted he still enjoys the occasional drink, particularly red wine. “I haven’t stopped at all. I don’t get drunk any more but drinking is still a part of my life. I’ve a big weakness for a good red wine. But half a bottle is fine. Or maybe two-thirds,” he shared.
A New Chapter
Paul Young’s journey from heartbreak to finding love again is a testament to resilience and the enduring power of love. As he embarks on this new chapter with Lorna, he carries with him the memories of his past while looking forward to a future filled with happiness and new experiences.
