A recent report by HuffPost on November 14, 2023, it’s been suggested that a crumpled note discovered in the discarded belongings of a former Trump aide might hold critical evidence in the case against the ex-president.

The note, penned by Jonny McEntee, a close ally of Trump, allegedly exposes Trump’s plan to pressure the military into overturning the 2020 election results. According to sources like ABC News and The New York Times, McEntee wrote the note following a statement from top Army officials in December 2020, asserting that the military had no role in determining U.S. election outcomes.

The torn-up note, recovered and pieced together by investigators, has become a significant part of the evidence amassed by the House Jan. 6 Committee investigating the Capitol insurrection.

Featured in ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl’s latest book, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party, the note is gaining attention for its potential role in exposing Trump’s interference with the democratic process.

Former Mueller investigation prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, speaking on MSNBC, asserted that the note absolutely indicates Trump’s intent to disrupt the democratic process. He highlighted the military’s commitment to the rule of law and suggested the note could be the smoking gun proving Trump’s involvement.

With Trump facing multiple criminal charges, including allegations of illegally holding classified documents, concerns are rising about his potential return in 2024. CNN reported that Trump’s attorney, John Corcoran, took notes suggesting Trump’s awareness of a subpoena for the documents, attempting to evade it by claiming ignorance about the box contents.

Weissmann expressed worry that if Trump runs again, he could leverage his knowledge of power to undermine the rule of law more effectively, describing Trump’s first term as marked by malevolence matched by incompetence and warning of potentially more impactful consequences in a Trump 2.0.
