Azealia Banks, once one of Donald Trump’s loudest celebrity supporters, is now publicly blasting the very president she once praised as her “fking hero.” In a blunt and brutally honest post on X (formerly Twitter), the rapper admitted regret over her vote, declaring: “Ok I think it’s time everyone who voted for Trump admit that we made a fking mess. Like this is an absolute disaster.”
Banks, known as much for her outspoken commentary as her music, has had a long and complicated history with Trump. Back in 2016, she gave what could only be described as a backhanded endorsement, calling him “evil like America is evil” and adding, “takes sht to know sht, so we may as well put a piece of sh*t in the White House.” Despite walking back her support after the infamous Access Hollywood tape emerged, she later flipped again and proudly supported his campaign.
During Trump’s first term, Banks seemed firmly in his corner, even going so far as to offer to perform at his inauguration and expressing that she was “f**king proud as F*CK” of his win. But fast forward to his second term, and the tone has changed dramatically.
The “212” singer’s frustration now spills over into her social media feed, where she’s not holding back. She labeled Trump “petty and vindictive” and seems to have drawn a final line in the sand over tech billionaire Elon Musk’s involvement in Trump’s political orbit. Musk, she said, “belongs nowhere near American politics.”
Despite momentarily switching her support to then-Vice President Kamala Harris, Banks ultimately cast her vote for Trump anyway—sharing an image of her ballot online. The move left many of her followers confused, especially after her fierce criticism of Hillary Clinton in 2016, whom she dismissed as “GROOMED” and “one of the establishment’s robots.”
Now, with the reality of Trump’s leadership hitting harder than ever, Banks appears to be among a growing number of former supporters experiencing voter’s remorse. Her latest comments have gone viral, stirring debate across social platforms and marking yet another twist in her unpredictable political journey.
