Ivana Trump, who passed away in July at 73, had a lot to say about her ex, Donald Trump, and his time as President. In a book from 2017 and some interviews, she spilled the beans.
Ivana was the first of Trump’s four wives and the mom of his oldest trio: Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. They tied the knot in 1977 but called it quits in 1992 after he strayed with Marla Maples, who later became wife #2.
In her book, Raising Trump,Ivana shared how much it hurt to find out about her husband’s cheating and how she confronted Maples on a ski trip in Aspen. She also mentioned having a direct line to the White House but didn’t call her ex much there to respect Melania, his third wife.
I don’t want to stir up jealousy or anything. I’m basically the original Trump wife. Okay? I’m the first lady, she told Good Morning America, sparking a feud with Melania, who claimed she was the only first lady.
Ivana also said she encouraged her ex to run for President and even turned down an offer to be the ambassador to the Czech Republic, her home country. She backed his politics but wished he’d tweet less and stay calm.
She also had sympathy for Melania, saying being the first lady was a tough gig and felt bad for her. She can’t go anywhere. She can’t shop, get her hair done, or anything, Ivana said.
After Donald became President, Ivana mostly stayed out of the limelight, focusing on her businesses, charity work, and grandkids. She was a successful entrepreneur, author, and socialite with her fashion line, jewelry, and perfume. She also supported good causes like the American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House, and Best Buddies International.
Ivana passed away at her New York home on July 14, 2022, surrounded by her family. They remembered her as a wonderful, beautiful, and inspiring woman who lived a great life.
She had been fighting a rare cancer but opted for alternative treatments like acupuncture, meditation, and herbs instead of chemo or radiation. She leaves behind her three children and her fourth husband, Rossano Rubicondi, whom she married in 2008.
Her legacy is one of courage, strength, and grace that touched people around the world. Her family, friends, and fans will miss her dearly.
