Former President Donald Trump’s campaign escalated its rhetoric against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, likening him to a “thirsty OnlyFans wannabe” in a scathing message on Truth Social, reported by Fox News.
Released on the day of DeSantis’s debate with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, the message accuses the Florida governor of being “desperate for attention” and questions his decision to engage in a debate with Newsom, whom they refer to as a “Grade A loser.”
Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung minced no words, declaring, “Ron DeSanctimonious is acting more like a thirsty, third-rate OnlyFans wannabe model than an actual presidential candidate. Instead of campaigning, he’s so desperate for attention that he’s debating a Grade A loser like Gavin Newsom.”
The press release, titled “Kiss of Death,” vividly portrays the Trump campaign’s perception of DeSantis’s political moves.
Cheung went further, predicting a wild and erratic performance by DeSantis in the debate, suggesting he would resemble “more like a San Francisco crackhead than the governor of Florida.”
This inflammatory language underscores the intensifying rivalry between Trump and DeSantis as the Florida governor positions himself as a strong contender for the 2024 presidential race.
“It’s never been clearer that Ron DeSanctus doesn’t have his eye on the ball. Despite falling to FIFTH PLACE in New Hampshire and failing to gain any ground in Iowa for months, DeSantis appears to already be auditioning for a career in reality television, with tonight’s circus with Gavin Newsom,” asserted Cheung.
The reference to DeSantis’s standings in New Hampshire and Iowa highlights tension within the GOP as potential candidates vie for position.
Earlier this month, DeSantis drew attention when he expressed skepticism about Trump’s viability, calling him a “high-risk proposition” and suggesting he would be a “lame duck” on day one, facing challenges attracting talent and handling distractions.
The Trump campaign’s aggressive stance against DeSantis has been evident, with attack ads resurfacing and millions spent to undermine the Florida governor. Despite this, DeSantis has secured key endorsements, notably from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and influential Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats.
While DeSantis leads in Iowa, Trump’s significant advantage poses challenges for the Florida governor’s campaign. GOPAC Chairman David Avella noted, “For DeSantis to win, he needs to convince voters with a clear, concise message that his ideas are the best solutions.”
As the war of words escalates, the political landscape within the GOP remains volatile, with candidates vying for support and attention. The Trump campaign’s characterization of DeSantis as a “thirsty OnlyFans wannabe” underscores the heightened rhetoric and fierce competition within the Republican party as the 2024 presidential race looms on the horizon.
