A recent victory, former President Donald Trump successfully defended his position on the GOP 2024 presidential primary ballot in Michigan.
A group called Free Speech For People, acting on behalf of Michigan voters, had challenged two previous court decisions rejecting attempts to remove Trump from the ballot due to his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
The court, in a unanimous 3-0 decision, deemed the challenge not ripe for consideration based on procedural grounds, sidestepping a direct ruling on the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause, a rarely invoked provision from the Civil War era.
Anticipating further legal battles, the case is expected to be appealed, possibly reaching the U.S. Supreme Court, which has yet to weigh in on the insurrection clause.
Celebrating the win, Trump’s campaign released a statement on Twitter/X, asserting, With the Michigan Court of Appeals confirming victories in the lower court, the Soros-funded Democrats have once again failed in their attempt to influence the election through a questionable interpretation of the 14th Amendment. President Trump stands undefeated against these legal challenges and is now in a stronger position than ever for the upcoming election
