In a recent episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the widely popular podcast host Joe Rogan asserted that President Joe Biden’s declining mental acuity should disqualify him from seeking re-election in 2024. Rogan, whose podcast has dominated Spotify for the past three years, argued that Biden voters are experiencing regret over their 2020 choice, stating, “What did I do? What did I choose?”
Rogan’s guest, mixed martial arts fighter Bo Nickal, concurred, expressing disbelief at Biden’s incoherent statements in recent interviews. Rogan specifically highlighted a claim that Biden attributed to the 46th president, asserting that America “lost” the Revolutionary War due to a lack of airports. Nickal, amused by the statement, remarked, “Yeah, what the hell? It’s crazy.”
However, Rogan’s credibility took a hit when it was revealed that the comment about airports and the Revolutionary War was actually made by former President Donald Trump. The mistake was pointed out by the producer of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” Jamie Vernon, who promptly corrected Rogan during the show.
Vernon played a clip featuring Biden mocking Trump’s statement about airports in the Revolutionary War, then juxtaposed it with a video of Trump’s “Salute to America” remarks from July 4, 2019. In that speech, Trump praised the military efforts during the Revolutionary War, stating, “Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory.”
Upon realizing the error, Rogan conceded, stating, “Oh, so [Trump] messed up.” Nickal emphasized the importance of scrutinizing media in the contemporary landscape, remarking, “That’s the thing about media these days. You gotta look into it.”
The incident underscores the significance of fact-checking and accurate information dissemination in public discourse, especially when discussing the mental fitness of political figures. Rogan’s misattribution serves as a cautionary tale in an era where misinformation can quickly gain traction.
