In a recent interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, former President Donald Trump affirmed on Friday that, if reelected in 2024, he would ensure a peaceful transfer of power to his successor. This declaration comes despite Trump’s persistent assertions, during the same interview, that he had peacefully handed over power to President Joe Biden following the 2020 election.
Trump, currently facing indictment for his alleged involvement in attempts to overturn the results of the previous election, reiterated his unfounded claims on Friday, insisting that the 2020 election was rigged.
In response to Hewitt’s inquiry about a peaceful transition of power, Trump stated emphatically, “Of course, and I did that this time. And I’ll tell you what. The election was rigged, and we have plenty of evidence of it. But I did it anyway.”
The former president also addressed the potential scenario of a closely contested 2024 presidential race, indicating his willingness to engage in a debate if only one other Republican candidate remained after the New Hampshire primary.
Despite facing criticism during his current campaign for allegedly echoing dictatorial rhetoric, with recent comments likening immigrants to “poisoning the blood of our country,” Trump refuted any association with Adolf Hitler. He denied being a student of Hitler and claimed to have never read “Mein Kampf,” Hitler’s infamous manifesto.
“First of all, I know nothing about Hitler,” Trump asserted on Friday. “I’m not a student of Hitler. I never read his works. They say that he said something about blood. He didn’t say it the way I said it, either, by the way. It’s a very different kind of a statement.”
