A recent poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports indicates that a majority of Americans view President Joe Biden’s presidency as a failure. The survey reveals that 58% of respondents consider Biden’s presidency a failure, with 40% describing it as a “complete failure.”
According to The Washington Times on February 16, 2024, just 9% of respondents gave Biden a top grade of “complete success,” while 86% of Republicans expressed dissatisfaction with his performance.
The polling results are consistent with a broader trend of declining approval ratings for Biden. A PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll from February 2022 found that 56% of Americans deemed Biden’s first year in office a failure, with 91% of Republicans and 66% of independents sharing this sentiment.
Additionally, the recent poll showed that 58% of Americans disapprove of how Biden has handled the economy, adding to the challenges the President faces as the country moves closer to the next election.
According to The Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard, only 19% of Democrats surveyed by Rasmussen considered Biden’s presidency a “complete success,” while 86% of Republicans expressed dissatisfaction.
These poll results come at a time when President Biden is confronting legal challenges and political controversies, including legal issues involving his son, Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden is currently facing a 56-page indictment for tax evasion and making false tax returns, with potential consequences of up to 17 years in prison if convicted. Additionally, he has been charged with three counts of lying on a gun application form, each carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
President Biden’s approval ratings have been on a decline since the beginning of his presidency, and the polling suggests a growing perception of failure among the American public. The legal issues surrounding Hunter Biden have the potential to impact President Biden’s re-election campaign, becoming a topic of discussion among voters and political opponents.
