Tragic case of abuse and neglect has shocked West Caln Township, Pennsylvania, as Rendell Hoagland and his girlfriend Cindy Warren face attempted murder charges in the death of Hoagland’s 12-year-old daughter, Malinda Hoagland.
Reports from Law and Crime on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, detail the harrowing discovery of Malinda’s condition, weighing only 50 pounds with multiple broken bones and signs of prolonged abuse. Chester County District Attorney Christopher L. de Barrena-Sarobe described the situation as “evil and torment” inflicted on Malinda over months.
The disturbing ordeal came to light when Hoagland discovered Malinda unconscious and alerted West Caln police. Despite efforts to save her, Malinda succumbed to organ failure shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
Investigations revealed a pattern of abuse including verbal and physical torment, shackling, and denial of food for extended periods. Surveillance footage allegedly showed the couple restraining Malinda and subjecting her to grueling exercises while verbally abusing her.
