The small town of Freeport, Pennsylvania, has come together to remember Corey Comperatore, the 50-year-old volunteer firefighter who tragically lost his life shielding his family from gunfire during a recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
The community gathered for the first of two public memorials to honor Comperatore’s life and service. Hundreds of mourners, including firefighters, friends, and locals, attended the vigil at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver on July 17, 2024. Upon arrival, attendees saw a tribute sign reading “Rest Peace Corey Thank You for Your Service,” accompanied by the logo of Comperatore’s fire company.
