House Republicans are intensifying their scrutiny of President Joe Biden, unveiling subpoenaed bank records and hinting at an imminent vote on the chamber’s impeachment inquiry. Representative Patrick Fallon, backed by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, has signaled strong GOP support for formalizing an impeachment process against President Biden, with a potential floor vote anticipated within the next two weeks.

Comer strategically bolstered the Republican-led investigation by releasing bank records revealing that Owasco PC, a business linked to Hunter Biden, initiated monthly payments to Joe Biden. The GOP’s commitment to examining Biden’s connections to his son’s foreign business dealings, a pledge made since their House majority in January, remains steadfast.

While an impeachment inquiry was initiated in September under Comer’s leadership, formalizing the probe within the House has yet to occur. Ian Sams, special assistant to Biden and White House spokesman for oversight and investigations, condemned the GOP’s actions as a “baseless smear campaign,” asserting that House Republicans were diverting attention from crucial issues concerning American families.

Comer’s financial statement disclosed an ACH authorization agreement, sanctioning monthly payments from Owasco to “Joseph R. Biden, Jr.” These payments, known since the previous year, were positioned by Comer as reimbursements from Hunter to his father. Additionally, Comer highlighted that Hunter Biden is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for alleged tax evasion and other serious offenses related to Owasco PC.

“The House Oversight Committee continues to investigate Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s domestic and international business schemes at a rapid pace,” declared Comer, emphasizing the committee’s commitment to uncovering facts and providing transparency.

Fallon underscored that formalizing the impeachment inquiry would grant House Republicans more subpoena power over the Biden administration, potentially yielding further documents and shedding light on the president’s financial dealings.

House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed the sentiment that a floor vote on impeachment could occur before the holiday break, emphasizing the duty of GOP lawmakers to pursue this course of action. Despite not anticipating Democratic support, Johnson highlighted the necessity of advancing the inquiry to overcome White House obstacles preventing key Department of Justice witnesses from coming forward.

In response, Sams dismissed the impeachment effort as an “extreme political stunt” lacking evidence, emphasizing that Johnson himself admitted to the absence of justification weeks ago. This ongoing political drama raises questions about the true motivations behind the push for impeachment and its potential implications for the Biden administration.
