A judge has mandated businessman Vivek Ramaswamy to reveal details concerning purported robocalls made during his 2024 presidential campaign within three days, marking a significant legal development.

Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate, urgently petitioned an Ohio federal court, contending insufficient time to address the court’s directive, according to a report by Newsweek on April 4, 2024.

Acknowledging potential consequences, Ramaswamy’s attorney, Brodi J. Conover, highlighted the looming risk of contempt of court proceedings if Ramaswamy fails to comply by Friday.

The lawsuit, initiated by a New Hampshire resident, alleges illegal robocalls to his cell phone, with Ramaswamy’s defense stressing the need for adequate time to respond effectively.

The court’s instruction requires Ramaswamy to disclose the identity of the company responsible for the alleged automated dialing services used during his campaign.

Ramaswamy, renowned for his pharmaceutical background, withdrew from the presidential race and later endorsed Donald Trump.

The magistrate judge allotted Ramaswamy until April 5 to unveil the dialing company’s identity and furnish additional details to the plaintiffs.

Conover, in a federal court filing, underscored the urgency of addressing the matter while citing constraints imposed by the court order.

He argued potential First Amendment protection for the information sought, which encompasses political speech and campaign-related activities.

Conover criticized the timing of Ramaswamy’s involvement, noting his recent entry into the legal fray by filing a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges Ramaswamy or his campaign team employed prerecorded calls without prior consent, inviting individuals to participate in a telephone town hall event.

Plaintiff Thomas Grant claims numerous unsolicited robocalls to his personal cell phone during Ramaswamy’s campaign, seeking damages for alleged violations.

References to complaints from individuals receiving similar calls were cited, as documented on the 800Notes website, a platform for reporting unfamiliar or suspicious numbers.
