Canadian singer Celine Dion has voiced her disapproval after her iconic song, “My Heart Will Go On,” was played at a Donald Trump rally in Bozeman, Montana. The song, which gained fame as the theme for the blockbuster film Titanic, was featured on a large screen at the former president’s rally on Friday night.
Dion’s team made it clear via her social media that the use of her song at the event was unauthorized. “In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use,” the post stated, followed by a note of surprise, “And really, that song?”
The Grammy-winning artist, renowned for her powerful vocals and emotional ballads, had previously declined to perform at Trump’s inauguration in January 2017. The decision not to participate in the inauguration was consistent with her stance against the former president’s political activities.
At the rally, Trump was focused on supporting a Republican Senate candidate and took the opportunity to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris. He made personal jabs at Harris and questioned her media presence, highlighting her absence from major press conferences and interviews since President Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 reelection race.
Dion’s disapproval underscores the ongoing tension between public figures and political events, particularly when personal and artistic works are used in ways they do not support.
