Channing Tatum credits a fellow Hollywood star for sparking his romance with Zoë Kravitz. The couple, who were first spotted together riding through New York City in 2021, are now engaged. Tatum recently shared that their relationship might never have blossomed without a little help from Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough.
During an interview with E! News, Tatum recounted the pivotal moment when Keough reached out to him. “I remember Riley Keough texted me,” Tatum said. “She was like, ‘Hey, I have a friend that wants to send you something. Do you know Zoë Kravitz? I’m going to give you her number.’”
This introduction led to Tatum receiving a script from Kravitz titled Pussy Island. The script intrigued Tatum so much that it eventually became the catalyst for their first meeting. “The very first time we met, it was after I read this thing that she sent me called Pussy Island,” Tatum explained. “I was like, ‘I guess I’m definitely reading this.’”
Since then, Tatum has become a cherished member of Kravitz’s family, earning praise from her father, rock star Lenny Kravitz, who described Tatum as a “very soulful human being.”
While Zoë is preparing to walk down the aisle for the first time, Tatum was previously married to dancer and actor Jenna Dewan. The pair announced their separation in 2018 and are still in the process of finalizing aspects of their divorce.
Interestingly, Tatum and Kravitz had crossed paths in Hollywood years before their romance began. Tatum recalled, “We both were going out for a movie that I ended up doing called A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. Then she was in Jodie Foster’s [2007 movie The Brave One]. That’s the first time I ever saw her, and that was right around the same time.”
Their relationship has since flourished both personally and professionally. The script Kravitz sent to Tatum, Pussy Island, eventually evolved into her film Blink Twice, a thriller she co-wrote and directed, starring none other than her now-fiancé, Tatum.
In a recent feature in Esquire, Tatum shared more about Kravitz’s love for cinema, stating, “She really doesn’t do anything but watch movies. She’s like, ‘I don’t do activities. I don’t go hiking. I just love movies.’”
This deep connection over film and storytelling has not only strengthened their bond but also paved the way for a successful creative partnership. As they prepare for their upcoming wedding, Tatum and Kravitz’s love story continues to captivate both their fans and Hollywood alike.
