During a segment on CNN Newsroom, Acosta expressed disbelief at the lack of media coverage and public outrage over the email. He pointed out the context of the January 6th Capitol riots and the infamous chant of “Hang Mike Pence,” emphasizing that such language should not be taken lightly.
Acosta’s concern extended to the normalization of extreme rhetoric, noting a phenomenon he termed “Trump numbness,” where repeated exposure to Trump’s inflammatory language might lead to its normalization.
