Tragic shooting outside Chill Vibez Lounge in Davenport early Friday morning has left two men dead, including 23-year-old Dane Howard, and another man recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident unfolded around 1:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the lounge on Myrtle Street. Davenport police responded to reports of gunfire and arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers performed emergency aid before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
As detectives worked the scene, officers learned that a second victim had already been rushed to the hospital by a private vehicle. He, too, did not survive. Authorities confirmed that one of the victims was Dane Howard. The name of the other man has not yet been released.
A third man was treated at the scene for a gunshot wound considered non-life-threatening and was later transported for additional medical care.
Early investigative details suggest the shooting was the result of a physical confrontation that escalated, not a random attack. Detectives are reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to piece together what led to the violence.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling Davenport investigators at 563-326-6125 or submitting an anonymous tip through QC Crime Stoppers.
Additional victim information will be released after families are notified and the investigation progresses.
