Imagine running into Superman at the White House — that’s exactly what happened to Steve Deace this week during a visit to Washington, D.C. While there to mark President Trump’s first 100 days in office, Deace interviewed several high-profile figures, but it was a surprise encounter with none other than actor Dean Cain that stole the show.
As Deace shared with his audience, “When you’re having lunch in the White House mess hall, you never know who you’re going to run into.” And this time, it was the iconic Superman star himself. Cain was in town for a special project, and Steve couldn’t pass up the opportunity to chat with him about his latest film, “End the Wait,” a powerful project aimed at raising awareness for kidney donation.
“We want to partner with the government to help save thousands of lives,” Cain told Deace, revealing his mission to spotlight the pressing need for kidney donors. But their conversation didn’t end there.
Deace, who’s no stranger to thought-provoking discussions, shifted the conversation to the movies, bringing up a recent film he’d seen: The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck. The film’s plot, centered on cracking down a human trafficking network and exposing the hypocrisy of some politicians, had Deace reflecting on the shifting cultural landscape.
“Ten years ago, this script would never have been made,” he said. “There’s been a major vibe shift happening.” Cain agreed, noting the changes in the media landscape, including Elon Musk’s purchase of X (formerly Twitter) and the resurgence of free speech. “People are waking up,” Cain said. “The real messages are getting out because they no longer control the media.”
