Denying recent speculation, former President Donald Trump has dismissed the idea of considering Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his running mate for the 2024 election. Trump clarified on Truth Social, his preferred platform, that the former Democratic-turned-Independent White House hopeful is not under consideration for the role, aligning with statements from his campaign team. Newsweek reported on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, that this denial follows earlier reports suggesting Kennedy Jr. was being considered.

While Trump, a frontrunner in the 2024 GOP presidential nomination race, has not disclosed his potential running mate, names like South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and New York Representative Elise Stefanik are reportedly on the shortlist. Despite significant victories in the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, Trump expressed opposition to Kennedy Jr., labeling him the “most Radical Left person running for office.” Trump specifically criticized Kennedy Jr.’s environmental program, accusing him of wanting to “close up the USA.”

Kennedy Jr., known for environmental advocacy, supports banning fracking, has won legal battles against corporate polluters, and contributed to establishing the Waterkeeper Alliance. However, he has also attracted attention for vaccine conspiracy theories, including linking vaccines to autism. Although approached by Trump’s team about the running mate position, Kennedy Jr. expressed disinterest and stated he would not accept the role.

Senior adviser Chris LaCivita from Trump’s 2024 campaign vehemently denied reports of Kennedy Jr.’s candidacy, calling them “100% FAKE NEWS” and emphasizing that no one from the Trump campaign had approached him. LaCivita labeled Kennedy Jr. as one of the most “LIBERAL and radical environmentalists in the country.”

In a recent Fox News interview, Trump indicated that he is in no rush to announce his running mate but hinted at a preference for a “very good person” with relatively standard views. He suggested there’s a 25 percent chance of selecting this individual.
