A recent revelation, the 10 Wisconsin Republicans who falsely claimed victory for former President Trump in 2020 confessed to their attempt to undermine the election results. The admission was part of a settlement agreement disclosed on December 5, 2023, shedding light on the deceptive actions of the so-called ‘fake electors.’

As reported by The Hill, these individuals acknowledged that President Biden was the legitimate winner in Wisconsin. They officially retracted the false documents filed on December 14, 2020, documents that were later exploited in an endeavor to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The settlement, a component of a $2.4 million lawsuit initiated by Biden’s Democratic electors against the Republicans, doesn’t impose damages or attorneys’ fees on the fake electors. Importantly, there is no admission of guilt or liability.

In a statement appended to the settlement, the Republicans expressed their disapproval of any actions that could erode public trust in the election process. As an additional concession, the pro-Trump electors committed not to participate in the 2024 election or any future elections involving Trump. They also pledged cooperation with Justice Department investigations related to election interference.

The orchestrated scheme by Trump lawyer John Eastman, relying on former Vice President Mike Pence certifying Trump-supporting electors, was exposed through this settlement. Notably, the resolution precedes a scheduled trial in September 2024, just two months before the upcoming election where Biden and Trump are expected to go head-to-head again.

This resolution marks a significant stride in addressing the aftermath of the 2020 election, emphasizing a commitment to safeguarding the democratic process against any attempts to undermine its integrity.
