A recent chat between Geraldo Rivera and Olive Troye, host Jim Acosta pointed fingers at Republican lawmakers for minimizing Donald Trump’s flirtations with dictatorship.

CNN’s Manu Raju questioned several lawmakers about Trump’s remark expressing a desire to be a dictator for a day. GOP members dismissed it as a joke or entertainment, but Olive Troye sounded the alarm, revealing that these very Republicans had sought Vice President Mike Pence’s intervention when Trump intended to act on policies inspired by Fox News.

Troye disclosed, I know the Republicans on the Hill who were upset when Trump would say he was going to do something and he’d go do it, and then there would be phone calls to Mike Pence’s office. She cited instances like Trump targeting immigrants, crucial for farm work, leading to desperate calls from Republicans in farm country.

She emphasized the importance of immigrants, stating, We need them. They are hardworking people. Troye also recalled Trump’s abrupt decisions, like changing plans related to Venezuela, causing panic among Republicans who are now downplaying his language.

Despite claims of checks and balances, Troye expressed concern, stating, I’ve seen what he does firsthand. Those checks and balances held because there were people in positions who weren’t willing to compromise themselves. Those people won’t be there anymore. It will be a circle of enablers.

Rivera argued for checks and balances, but the fear remains that Trump, if unchecked, could be the first president to defy a Supreme Court ruling, emphasizing the need for Congress to act if necessary.
