The disclosure surfaced in a recent court filing by Chief Prosecutor Jack Smith, who unveiled plans to call three phone data experts as witnesses, with one identified as Expert 3.
The images, extracted not only from Trump’s phone but also from a co-conspirator’s device identified as belonging to Rudy Giuliani, remain shrouded in mystery. Prosecutors are withholding details on their nature, intensifying speculation and heightening anticipation surrounding the trial.
Denver Riggleman, a former technical advisor to the January 6 committee, underscored the significance of the phone records on X (formerly Twitter), stating that they would be of enormous help to prosecutors. Riggleman particularly emphasized the value of geolocation data, expected to provide insights into the “pattern of life” of Trump and other involved parties.
“This is very good news. Anyone can lie or obfuscate during interviews—or conveniently forget. But ones and zeros—data is the way,” Riggleman wrote, highlighting the power of content stored locally and backed up by link analysis and pattern of life.*
