Fox News recently stepped in to clean up one of Donald Trump’s chaotic public appearances by heavily editing his Bronx barbershop interview. As Trump’s responses continue to spiral into rambling and confusion, even his most supportive outlets appear to be taking steps to make him look more polished.
A CNN investigation, published Thursday, revealed that Fox News made significant edits to Trump’s interview in New York City, removing many of his extreme political remarks and disjointed tangents. The unedited version, available on Instagram, showcases a stark contrast—a disorganized and often misleading performance from the former president.
Fox cut out some of Trump’s more inflammatory claims, including his remarks about “gang members and drug lords” in Aurora, Colorado, and misleading statements regarding Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Trump claimed that Springfield was overwhelmed by 50,000 immigrants, when in reality, the actual numbers are significantly lower. The Haitian population in the area is there under temporary protected status, meaning they are legally residing in the U.S., but Trump’s comments didn’t reflect those facts.
Another glaring edit involved a question about federal taxes. In the unedited version, Trump wandered off-topic for seven minutes, discussing unrelated issues like the Keystone pipeline and transgender sports, while the audience member struggled to redirect him. Fox News, however, trimmed the exchange to show only the brief moment when Trump finally addressed the federal tax question, cutting out the irrelevant rambling.
This revelation comes with irony, as Trump’s legal team has recently been threatening CBS News with a lawsuit over Kamala Harris’s 60 Minutes interview, demanding the release of an unedited transcript. Trump’s team has claimed that Harris’s interview was edited unfairly, yet this latest example of selective editing by Fox News highlights the hypocrisy of their stance.
