In a recent call to C-SPAN’s Republican line, a New York caller named Lois sparked controversy by expressing her willingness to support even Satan as the Speaker of the House if it prevented what she referred to as “communist” Democrats from seizing power. The call came in response to Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) second unsuccessful bid for the position, leading C-SPAN’s Pedro Echevarria to delve into the ongoing struggle for control in the House of Representatives.
Lois accused Democrats of blindly following Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), labeling them as “lemmings” due to their unanimous vote in his favor. She staunchly supported Jordan over Jeffries, stating her opposition to the latter because she believed him to be a “communist.”
Echevarria questioned whether the inability of Republicans to elect a Speaker was rooted within the party itself. Lois, however, argued that the situation showcased the GOP’s ability to think independently. “I don’t care if they elect Satan,” she asserted, emphasizing her disdain for Jeffries’ political ideology. Lois went on to criticize Democrats, referring to them as “high-functioning morons” and expressing her frustration with their negative perceptions of Republican voters.
This call highlights the deeply polarized political climate in the United States, where extreme views and staunch partisanship continue to influence public discourse.
