Renowned chef Gordon Ramsay fondly reminisces about the memorable experiences of cooking for the late Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, labeling them as “two of the big highlights of my cooking career.”
During an episode of the Watch What Happens Live After Show on Tuesday, May 14, Ramsay shared his insights into preparing meals for the British monarch and the beloved princess.
Reflecting on his encounters with Queen Elizabeth II, Ramsay noted the moments of cooking for her on several occasions. Despite the bustling atmosphere of royal banquets, the queen always made a point to engage with Ramsay, demonstrating genuine interest in his culinary endeavors.
Ramsay expressed admiration for the queen’s gracious demeanor and genuine curiosity about food and his culinary journey, recalling the profound impact of her attention and appreciation during their interactions.
The celebrity chef also recounted the “amazing moment” when he was honored as an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) at a ceremony presided over by the queen. In addition to his experiences with Queen Elizabeth II, Ramsay fondly remembers preparing a meal for Princess Diana during his tenure as a chef at the London restaurant Aubergine in the 1990s. Describing Diana as “just beautiful” and “one of the most gracious members of the royal family,” Ramsay recalls the pleasure of serving her a delectable meal comprising pressed leek terrine and sea bass.
