Blistering first-floor speech today, House Speaker Mike Johnson lambasted the Biden administration for what he called a “clear and present danger to our national security” due to their handling of the ongoing border crisis. Johnson, who assumed the Speaker position less than 100 days ago, expressed deep concern over the alarming surge of illegal entries into the United States.

“Since I took office, over 700,000 illegals have been welcomed into our country illegally by the Biden administration,” declared Johnson, his voice echoing with urgency. The Speaker went on to paint a grim picture of the consequences, citing instances where American schoolchildren were displaced from their classrooms to accommodate migrants and Korean War veterans were displaced from nursing homes to house migrants.

Johnson pointed to the infiltration of dangerous substances into American streets, with fentanyl flooding communities like an “open sewer,” resulting in a skyrocketing number of poisoning deaths, particularly among young adults.

The Speaker highlighted shocking statistics, revealing that over 7 million encounters with illegal aliens have occurred at the southern border since President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas assumed office. Johnson underscored the threat by stating that 35 out of 50 states, including his home state of Louisiana, don’t even have a population as large as the number of encounters at the border.

The most alarming revelation came when Johnson disclosed that more than 300 individuals on the terror watchlist had been apprehended at the southern border, raising serious concerns about national security. He questioned how many may have entered undetected and expressed fears over the 1.8 million “gotaways” who have escaped the authorities.

The Speaker accused the Biden administration of intentionally exacerbating the crisis, citing a memo he released earlier this month documenting 64 specific actions taken by the administration to undermine border security and facilitate the mass release of illegal immigrants.

Johnson argued that President Biden’s revocation of Executive Order 9844, which halted the construction of the border wall, was a key factor in the escalating situation. He criticized the abandonment of the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which he claimed sent a powerful message to potential migrants and significantly reduced illegal border crossings.

The House Speaker concluded his impassioned address by urging President Biden to take immediate action, stating, “We have to decide if we believe in the rule of law or not. We have to decide if we’re a sovereign nation or we’re not.” Johnson emphasized the importance of border security in safeguarding the well-being of American citizens and upholding the nation’s principles.
