A recent Morning Consult survey, which sampled approximately 2,200 registered voters, reveals a decline in confidence regarding Trump’s health. The percentage of voters who consider Trump to be in “good health” has dropped from 58% to 52% since President Joe Biden withdrew from the race. Concurrently, the proportion of voters who perceive Trump as too old for the presidency has increased from 44% to 51%.
Concerns about Trump’s mental fitness are also on the rise. The survey shows a decrease in the number of voters who view him as mentally fit, with this figure falling from 53% to 48%. These changes in voter sentiment reflect a growing scrutiny of Trump’s age and cognitive abilities, mirroring the concerns that were once directed at Biden.
At 78, Trump is the oldest presidential nominee in U.S. history and would become the oldest sitting president if re-elected. Harris’s strong performance is also evident among key demographics. She leads Trump among independents, securing 42% of their support compared to Trump’s 37%. Additionally, Harris holds a significant advantage among younger voters aged 18 to 34, leading Trump 49% to 40%. This broad support across various voter groups highlights Harris’s effective connection with a diverse electorate.
Conducted from August 2 to 4, the Morning Consult poll included a sample of 11,265 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1 percentage point.
