President Joe Biden’s recent debate performance has sparked significant concern beyond domestic politics, with potential global repercussions. Fred Fleitz, a retired CIA analyst and former National Security Council chief of staff under former President Donald Trump, voiced his worries on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend” on Sunday, June 30, 2024. He emphasized that Biden’s perceived weakness could embolden America’s adversaries, leading to increased global instability.
Fleitz highlighted that terrorist groups and hostile nations like China, Russia, and Iran might seize the opportunity to challenge the United States. He speculated that China and Russia could exploit uncertainties among U.S. allies regarding America’s commitment to their defense.
“I just worry what terrorist groups and our enemies’ states, enemies like China and Russia and Iran, what are they going to pull in the remainder of the year?” Fleitz remarked. “I think one thing we may see is that China and Russia are going to rush to take advantage of American allies who may be teetering. They’re worried about America’s commitment to them.”
Shifting Alliances and Rising Tensions
Fleitz expressed concerns over Saudi Arabia’s potential alignment with China and Russia, further destabilizing the region. He also warned of North Korea possibly conducting a seventh nuclear test, exacerbating tensions.
“It’s very dangerous when the American president is portrayed as being so weak and indecisive on the global stage,” Fleitz asserted.
Retired U.S. Army Colonel David Giammona, who joined Fleitz on the show, echoed these concerns. He pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite not watching the debate, is likely aware of Biden’s perceived weakness. Giammona mentioned the presence of a Russian submarine off the Florida coast as a sign of Russia testing U.S. defenses.

“He didn’t have to watch the debate,” Giammona said. “He already knows Joe Biden’s a weak leader. That’s why there’s a Russian sub parked off our coast, off of Florida. He’s just testing the waters to see exactly what we’re going to do. We’re doing nothing about it. And so, Putin has a strong hand. So does China.”
Global Implications and Political Landscape
Fleitz and Giammona’s assessments underscore the potential for increased global instability as adversaries of the United States test the boundaries of American resolve. The presence of the Russian submarine signifies a direct challenge and a broader strategy of probing U.S. defenses.
The discussion also touched on the political landscape in the United Kingdom. Fleitz predicted that Labour Party leader Keir Starmer, likely the next prime minister, would steer the party sharply to the left despite presenting himself as a moderate.
“The Labour Party is not a moderate party,” Fleitz stated. “Once they get back into power, I think we’re going to see what happened with Joe Biden. They’re pretending to be moderate. They’re going to move sharply to the left.”
In contrast, Giammona highlighted conservative victories in the European Union and suggested that Donald Trump could leverage this momentum if re-elected. He noted that the current global perception of American weakness is recognized by both the U.K. and Europe.
“I believe that, you know, with that, conservative shift in Europe and then the liberal shift in the U.K., we’re going to see Donald Trump parlaying that into power for himself,” Giammona said. “Right now we’re perceived as weak across the world. The U.K. knows that, and Europe knows that. And so there’s going to be a real shifting in how geopolitically we look to the rest of the world.”
A Call for Strong Leadership
The warnings from Fleitz and Giammona highlight the dangers of a perceived weak U.S. presidency on the global stage. They argue that adversaries are likely to test American resolve, leading to increased global instability. As the political landscape shifts both domestically and internationally, the call for strong leadership becomes ever more pressing to navigate these challenging times.
