Recent interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, President Joe Biden reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the 2024 presidential race, stating that only divine intervention could sway his decision to stay in the race.
During the primetime interview on July 5, Biden addressed his performance in the recent presidential debate against Donald Trump and dismissed concerns about his age and fitness for office. “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race,’ I’d get outta the race,” Biden, 81, candidly remarked. “The Lord Almighty’s not coming down.”
Despite facing criticism following the debate, Biden remains resolute, emphasizing his capability to lead the nation. He acknowledged the challenges, including exhaustion from a demanding schedule and health concerns. Biden disclosed that he had been feeling unwell after a trip to Europe, attributing his debate performance to fatigue and a severe cold rather than any underlying health issues.
Reflecting on his tenure, Biden highlighted achievements such as a Middle East peace plan and economic growth initiatives. When questioned about potential defeat against Trump, Biden expressed confidence in his efforts: “As long as I gave it my all and did the best job I could, that’s what matters.”
The president’s determination to continue campaigning comes amid calls from some within his party to reconsider his candidacy. Despite internal dissent, Biden remains focused on his vision for the future and his belief in his ability to lead the country.
