John Cena has once again addressed his choice not to have children, providing a thoughtful explanation that resonates with many. Cena, who is married to Shay Shariatzadeh, opened up about his decision during his conversation with host Shannon Sharpe. “I have a certain curiosity about life, and I also know the investment that it takes,” Cena stated. “As somebody who’s driven, many times stubborn and selfish, I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity, but I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time [needed] to be a great parent.”

The “Suicide Squad” star explained that he and Shariatzadeh have had thorough discussions about their views on parenting. They discovered that they were aligned in their decision not to have children. Cena believes that his choice is not a result of a sudden decision but rather a well-considered stance. “I can tell you this is not a knee-jerk reaction,” he added.

Previously, Cena had touched on his feelings about parenthood during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in 2022. Despite Barrymore’s belief that Cena would make an excellent father due to his temperament and philanthropic efforts, Cena dismissed the notion. “You have to have a passion for it. You have to have a fuel for it,” he said at the time.

Cena’s openness about his choice highlights the importance of honest communication in relationships. He emphasized that discussing such topics early in their marriage helped build a strong foundation for their partnership. “We both got to lean into these uncomfortable moments and address this stuff and now, we’ve actually built a foundation where, whenever one of us is feeling bothered, nothing’s off the table,” Cena noted.

Beyond his personal life, Cena continues to make strides in his career. Following his memorable moment at the Oscars in March, he appeared in the Amazon Prime comedy “Jackpot!” and made a guest appearance in a Season 3 episode of “The Bear.” He recently finished filming the action comedy “Heads of State,” where he stars alongside Priyanka Chopra and Idris Elba.

John Cena and Shay Shariatzadeh, who have been married since 2020, remain a prominent couple in the public eye. Cena’s candidness about his life choices serves as a reminder of the diverse paths people take and the importance of understanding and respecting personal decisions.
