Renowned prankster and entertainer Johnny Knoxville finds himself embroiled in a substantial legal battle, as he is being sued for a staggering $3 million over allegations of tasering a producer on the Prank Panel.

Best known for his roles in Jackass and similar prank-oriented programs, Knoxville, whose real name is Philip John Clap, stands accused alongside ABC Signature Studios, ITV America, Jimmy Kimmel’s Kimmelot shingle, and other entities associated with the unscripted comedy TV series Prank Panel.

The lawsuit, filed by Daniel Curry on May 16, asserts claims of workplace violence stemming from an incident in September 2022 at Saticoy Studios in Van Nuys, California. According to the 28-page legal document, Curry is seeking compensation totaling $950,000 for compensatory and general damages, $300,000 for special and incidental damages, and an additional $1,750,000 for loss of earnings, including future loss of earnings.

Curry alleges that Knoxville tasered him during a high-speed chase, resulting in the loss of motor skills and a subsequent collapse. The document describes how Curry suffered a broken fibula and torn ankle ligament, leading to months of physical therapy and relearning to walk.

The lawsuit characterizes the attack as unprovoked, surprising, and inherently dangerous, emphasizing that Curry was not an active participant in any scenes but rather an unsuspecting member of the production team.

Online discussions, particularly on platforms like Reddit, have seen fans of Jackass expressing concerns over Knoxville’s behavior. Some have remarked that tasering individuals goes beyond mere pranking and borders on assault. Others have suggested that, given Knoxville’s age and the nature of his antics, it may be time for him to move past such behavior.

This lawsuit is not the first time Knoxville’s pranks have landed him in legal trouble. In 2022, he faced a lawsuit over a “terrifying” episode of Jackass, where a participant claimed to have been severely shaken and traumatized.

As this legal battle unfolds, representatives for Knoxville have yet to respond to requests for comment from media outlets.
