Justin Timberlake’s legal team is adamant that the pop star was not intoxicated during a recent traffic stop that resulted in a DWI charge. Edward Burke, Timberlake’s lawyer, is working to have the charge dismissed, citing significant errors in the police documents.

Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace has ordered Timberlake to be re-arraigned on August 2 with corrected paperwork. Despite being on tour in Europe, Timberlake will be allowed to attend the proceeding virtually. The singer did not attend the initial hearing as his appearance was waived in advance.

Outside the courthouse, Burke reiterated, “He was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated.” He emphasized that police errors were substantial and anticipated that the charges would be dropped.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, responsible for prosecuting the case, described the document errors as minor and confirmed that corrected charges were filed on July 2. Spokesperson Emily O’Neil stated, “The facts and circumstances of the case have not been changed or amended.”

Burke hinted at further issues with the arrest documents but did not provide details. “The police made a number of very significant errors in this case,” he said. “In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances.”

Timberlake has shown respect for law enforcement and the judicial process, cooperating fully during his arrest. The District Attorney’s office did not respond to Burke’s comments, with O’Neil stating, “We stand ready to litigate the underlying facts of this case in court, rather than in the press.”

Timberlake was charged on June 18 after police alleged he ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane in Sag Harbor. The police report claimed Timberlake displayed signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcohol, and poor performance on field sobriety tests. Timberlake admitted to having one martini and refused a breath test after being taken to a police station.

The 43-year-old singer, who gained fame as a member of NSYNC and later as a solo artist, continues to contest the charges as his legal team works to clear his name.
