“Fashion is really big now,” Holmes noted, reflecting on how the industry has evolved over the years. Unlike the past, where actors weren’t constantly photographed on the streets, today’s stars face near-constant scrutiny. Yet, Holmes is determined not to let this affect her personal life or how she dresses. “I’m adamant about having a life and not letting this industry dictate decisions as simple as what I wear or as complicated as what I do,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of living life on her own terms.
This philosophy extends beyond her personal wardrobe choices. Holmes recently partnered with French fashion label A.P.C., lending her name to a line of clothing that includes sweaters, shirts, mini skirts, and jeans. In an interview with The New York Times, she expressed her discomfort with the idea of dressing up just to run errands because she knows she’ll be photographed. “(It) just doesn’t feel right to me,” she admitted, reinforcing her commitment to authenticity.
