Katy Perry and Russell Brand finalized their divorce in 2012, but the pop singer recently shared a surprising detail about how she handled the paperwork. Perry signed her divorce papers with her signature smiley face and heart, maintaining her hallmark positivity even during tough times.
Perry, who just released her latest single “Woman’s World,” revealed this unique tidbit in an online clip. “I’ve always had a heart in my signature and a smiley face. Even when I was depressed, I would still sign it with a smiley face,” she explained during a livestream, later reposted by fans. “I signed my divorce papers with a smiley face and a heart because this is my signature, not because of anything else really.”

This revelation came while Perry was signing copies of her forthcoming album “143.” Fans on TikTok praised the “Teenage Dream” singer for her resilience. One user quipped, “I can do it with a broken heart,” quoting a Taylor Swift hit. Another added, “She finally got her smile back.”

Perry and Brand married in 2010 but split in 2012. In a 2013 Vogue interview, Perry disclosed that Brand informed her of the divorce via text. “Let’s just say I haven’t heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me on December 31, 2011,” she said.

Last year, this interview resurfaced when multiple women accused Brand of sexual assault. Perry had previously hinted at knowing “the real truth” about Brand but chose to keep it private.

Perry has since moved on, finding happiness with actor Orlando Bloom. The couple, who met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, briefly split in 2017 but rekindled their romance, getting engaged in 2019 and welcoming their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, in 2020. Perry’s upcoming album “143” is slated for release in September.
