Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has sharply criticized the Biden administration in the aftermath of the tragic murder of Natalie Lloyd, 21, and Davy Lloyd, 23, the daughter and son-in-law of Missouri state Representative Ben Baker, in Haiti.

The victims were killed by gang members while on a mission trip to Haiti, a country plagued by rampant gang violence and a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory from the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince.

In a statement on social media, Greene condemned the administration’s handling of international crises involving American citizens, citing previous instances such as the situation in Afghanistan and ongoing hostage cases in Gaza. She called for an investigation into reports that the State Department did not authorize a timely rescue mission for the Lloyds, accusing the administration of prioritizing other countries over American citizens.

Greene’s remarks echo broader discontent among Republicans with the Biden administration’s foreign policy decisions, particularly regarding the safety of Americans abroad. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley also criticized the administration, claiming that attempts to assist the Lloyds were rebuffed due to perceived danger.

The incident has raised questions about the U.S. government’s ability to protect its citizens in high-risk areas and has highlighted the escalating gang violence in Haiti. While the Biden administration has emphasized ongoing efforts to stabilize Haiti and ensure the safety of Americans, critics like Greene argue that more decisive action is needed to address these challenges effectively.

As the 2024 election approaches, incidents like this and the administration’s responses to them are likely to remain prominent issues, shaping public perception and political discourse on foreign policy and national security.
