Washington, D.C. –bold move upon the House’s return from the Thanksgiving break, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), colloquially known as “MTG,” has reignited the push for the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. The Daily Wire reported on Wednesday that the congresswoman presented a fresh resolution, alleging “high crimes and misdemeanors” related to Mayorkas’s oversight of border security.
Taking the floor, Greene emphasized the historical significance of impeachment, stating, “Today, I reintroduced my articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas because impeachment is EXACTLY what the founders intended for the House to do when a member of the executive branch intentionally violates the laws written by the legislative branch.”
This development comes after a recent bipartisan vote, where eight Republicans aligned with their Democratic counterparts in referring Greene’s original impeachment resolution to the House Homeland Security Committee. The committee, currently investigating Mayorkas for alleged dereliction of duty, lays the groundwork for potential future impeachment proceedings.
The Department of Homeland Security has vehemently dismissed the impeachment efforts as “reckless impeachment charades” orchestrated by congressional Republicans. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Mayorkas stated, “I am busy at work and incredibly proud to support and work alongside the 260,000 people at the Department of Homeland Security.”

Representative Tom McClintock (R-CA), one of the eight Republicans who voted for the referral, warned against adopting a “new definition” of impeachment, referencing concerns from past Democratic-led “sham impeachments” against former President Donald Trump.
