Recent interview that sent shockwaves through the political landscape, Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban pulled no punches as he took a firm stand against former President Donald Trump, dubbing him a “snake oil salesperson.” This revelation, reported by OK Magazine on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, comes as Cuban vociferously supports President Joe Biden in the upcoming 2024 election.
In an exclusive conversation with Axios on the same day, Cuban didn’t hold back, stating, “I don’t want a snake oil salesperson as president. I’m voting for Biden/Harris over Trump all day every day.”
Drawing a stark comparison between the two candidates, Cuban characterized Trump as a personality peddling a cure-all with his “snake oil,” while contrasting Biden as a meticulous leader who communicates policies through charts, graphs, and statements.
“It’s the snake oil salesperson vs. the incumbent, traditional politician. One will tell you his snake oil will cure everything that ails you. The other will show you the details of his policies through charts, graphs and statements,” Cuban emphasized.
Cuban highlighted Biden’s precision and methodical approach, stating, “He wants to sell the steak, not the sizzle. Trump voters are happy with their snake oil whether it works or not.”
During an interview with Bloomberg News at the White House, the 65-year-old entrepreneur reiterated his stance, expressing his unwavering refusal to vote for Trump even in hypothetical scenarios.
“If they were having his last wake, and it was him versus Trump, and he was being given last rites, I would still vote for Joe Biden,” Cuban declared.
Cuban also revealed that he recently cast a “protest vote against Trump” in the Texas Republican primary for Nikki Haley.
The entrepreneur’s distaste for Trump has roots in previous years, particularly when he faced a Twitter ban for allegedly spreading misinformation and encouraging his supporters during the Capitol attack in 2021. Drawing parallels between his actions and ethical considerations, Cuban stated:
“If I realized that something I sold was being used for something that was nefarious or wrong, I would stop it. How is this any different? Putting aside the [Terms of Service], it’s just the right thing to do,” he added.
Despite his strong political opinions and previous hints at a potential presidential run, Cuban has dismissed the idea of entering the political arena. While speaking to CNBC’s Morgan Brennan on Tuesday, March 5, he explained:
“You know, my kids are 14, 17, and 20, Morgan. And that’s time I’m never going to get back. In this crazy world and how they treat families and how they treat the kids of people running — there’s just no way I’d put them through that. And you know when I’m 105, hopefully, on my deathbed, I’m not going to think back ‘I should have run for president.’ I’m gonna think back about all those memories I had with my kids while they were still in their teenage years,” he said.
